This book traces the history of the Eastern Orthodox Church and analyzes its most distinctive doctrines and practices. It is unique in that a particular emphasis is also placed on the perspectives of Protestant and Evangelical Christians regarding those doctrines and practices.

The book is based on a thesis essay the author wrote in his doctoral work, which included an emphasis in Eastern Orthodox history and liturgy. Thus, it has the basis of academic research, yet it is written in a style any reader can understand and appreciate.
